DRESS CODE
School Uniform
In order to promote student safety and to create an environment conducive to learning, SPA implements a student dress code that is to be followed in school or while representing the school:
School Uniforms: SPA requires that students wear the school uniform on Mondays. School uniform shirts are available at JLen T’s in Nu’uuli. For safety and identification purposes, students will be required to wear an approved uniform when on field trips or representing the school at various functions.
When attending island-wide competitions or other events, students may be required to wear a more ‘formal’ uniform. Please contact the school office for more information.
School Formal Uniforms
Elementary (EA) and Junior Academy (JA):
Navy Blue Skort or skirt Knee High / Navy Blue Shorts or ie faitaga (boys)
White Collar Blouse/White Collar Dress Shirt (boys)
Heather Gray Tie (EA/JA - Girls and Boys)
High School (HA):
Heather Gray Knee High Skirts/Ie Faitaga (Boys)
Navy Blue Ties (all)
Girls may wear dresses, and skirts/skorts no shorter than two inches above the top of the knee. Loose fitting pants and long shorts are also permitted. Ie lavalava*, Short shorts, sheer tops, exposed camisoles, singlets, tube tops, crop tops and spaghetti strap tops are not acceptable in grades 5 through 12. For safety reasons, no large jewelry or earrings may be worn.
Makeup may be worn in a tasteful fashion by girls in grades 9 - 12.
Boys may wear pants or shorts. Ie lavalava**, excessively baggy pants or shorts are not acceptable, nor are pants or shorts falling below the waist. Any form of tank tops are not acceptable in grades 5 through 12 except sport uniforms (e.g. basketball team).
**Ie lavalava’s are only acceptable during Samoan Day
In addition:
Hats may be worn at school during Physical Education class for sun protection.
T-Shirts must be neat, properly sized and may not display inappropriate language or symbols.
Body piercing, other than earlobes, is not allowed.
Uniforms from other schools are not to be worn on campus.
